Interstate 18 (I-18) is an intrastate Interstate Highway located entirely within the U.S. state of California. The interstate is physically a north-south highway instead of running the east-west direction. The western (northern) terminus is in San Jose, meeting at a huge interchange with I-280, I-680, and US 101 in the San Francisco Bay Area. The eastern (southern) terminus is in Barstow, meeting with I-15 and the western terminus of I-40. I-18 connects other major cities in California including Modesto, Jerseydale, Fresno, Visalia, and California City. I-18 has two auxiliary routes. Interstate 118 (I-118) is a spur connecting from Hylesville west to State Route 180 (CA 180) in Fresno, and Interstate 518 (I-518) is a spur connecting from Modesto north to State Route 120 (CA 120) in Manteca. Interstate 18 has three freeway names within the regions or major cities in California.
