The Polk Parkway, also known as Interstate 104 (I-104) , is a 24-mile (39 km), limited-access toll road which runs through Polk County, Florida. It carries a hidden designation of Florida State Road 570 (SR 570/FL 570) and it is operated by the Florida Department of Transportation (FLDOT) and the Florida's Turnpike Enterprise system (FTES) of limited-access expressways. I-104/The Polk Parkway mainly serves as a bypass for Interstate 4 around Lakeland forming a semicircle, which along with I-4 circumscribes serving easy acess to Polk county's Cities: Lakeland, Winter Haven, Bartow, Mulberry, and Aburndale. Plus it is the closest expressway to the theme park Legoland Florida. I-104 was built in 1999 in December as State Road 570. Later, in 2006, it is then signed Interstate 104, with FL 570 becoming a hidden designation.
As part of the Florida's Turnpike network, SunPass, E-Pass, and LeeWay electronic toll collection are recognized along with coin collection at toll plazas and interchange ramps. The Polk Parkway does not, however, employ open road tolling like numerous other toll roads in Florida.
